Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: BJP Set to Announce First List of Candidates Today

After finalizing seat-sharing with NDA allies, BJP set to announce nominees for crucial Bihar polls.

Patna, Oct 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to release its first list of candidates for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 on Monday, following the party’s finalization of nominees for nearly all seats.

The decision comes after an extensive Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting in Delhi on Sunday, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda. Party leaders deliberated on seat distribution and candidate selection for the high-stakes elections in the state.

The CEC meeting followed the announcement of the NDA’s seat-sharing pact, which included key allies such as the Janata Dal (United) or JDU, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) or LJP(RV), Hindustani Awam Party (Secular) or HAM(S), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM).

Under the seat-sharing arrangement:

BJP and JDU will each contest 101 seats.

LJP(RV) has been allotted 29 seats.

HAM(S) and RLM will contest 6 seats each.

The Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, for all 243 seats, will be conducted in two phases — on November 6 and November 11, with the vote counting scheduled for November 14, 2025.

The announcement of the first candidate list is expected to set the tone for the elections and trigger a wave of political activity across the state, as parties gear up for one of the most closely watched assembly polls in India.
