Bihar Election 2025 Vote Share: RJD Tops Charts, but NDA’s Wider Reach Secures Victory

Despite topping the vote percentage, RJD’s concentrated support hurt seat conversion, while NDA’s evenly distributed votes delivered a sweeping victory.

Bihar, Nov 15 : The final vote share from the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 offers crucial insight into how voters thought this year  and why the map ultimately showed an overwhelming win for the NDA.

At first glance, the numbers appear scattered. But once broken down, a clear pattern emerges: the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) secured the highest vote share, yet the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won the election because its support was spread across the right constituencies.

RJD Leads Vote Share but Falls Behind in Seat Count

The RJD emerged as the single-largest party in terms of public support with 23.03% of the vote.
But its support remained concentrated in specific pockets. These strong clusters helped the party dominate a handful of seats, yet failed to convert into a significant number of wins statewide.

This reflects a long-standing trend in Bihar politics: high vote share, low seat conversion.

NDA’s Broad-Based Support Explains Its Dominance

The BJP secured 20.08%, while the JD(U) won 19.25% of the vote — individually behind the RJD.
But elections are not won in isolation.

When combined with allies — LJP(RV), HAM(S), and RLM — the NDA’s vote share rises to an estimated 46–47%, comfortably positioning it ahead in a multi-party contest.

Importantly, the NDA’s support was evenly spread across regions, enabling it to convert votes into seats with far greater efficiency. The alliance finished with 202 seats, reflecting its widespread acceptance.

JD(U)’s numbers reaffirm that despite anti-incumbency chatter, Nitish Kumar’s base remains stable and loyal.

Congress Underperforms, LJP(RV) Shows Strength

The Congress secured 8.72% of the vote but lacked competitiveness in key constituencies.

Chirag Paswan’s LJP(Ram Vilas) recorded 5.05%, an impressive figure for a party contesting limited seats. It highlights the continued strength of the Paswan voter base.

Left Parties, AIMIM and BSP Leave Small but Influential Mark

Several smaller parties influenced the outcome of closely contested seats:

CPI(ML) Liberation: 2.8%

AIMIM: 1.8%

BSP: 1.6%

CPI(M): 0.80%

CPI: 0.53%

While their statewide impact remains limited, they played decisive roles in triangular contests.

‘Others’ Claim a Significant 14%

A sizable 14% of voters supported independents and hyper-local parties, revealing that a large section of Bihar’s electorate still votes based on local leadership, caste networks, and constituency-specific issues, independent of major party narratives.

In Simple Words

RJD got the highest vote share,

but the NDA, with its broad and efficiently distributed support base, converted votes into seats much more effectively.

The 2025 Bihar election wasn’t just about how many votes each party received — it was about where those votes were cast, and the NDA mastered that equation.
