Bihar Elections: Tejashwi Yadav Declared INDIA Bloc CM Candidate, Mukesh Sahani Named Deputy

Opposition alliance finalizes leadership lineup ahead of assembly polls, announces dual deputy CM plan

PATNA, Oct 23: The INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties in Bihar, on Thursday officially declared Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming assembly elections.

The announcement came at a joint press conference attended by all alliance partners. Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot confirmed that the decision had the full backing of Congress de facto leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Gehlot further revealed that if the INDIA bloc comes to power, Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani would be appointed as one of the deputy chief ministers. The second deputy CM post would be allocated to “another leader from the backward classes,” reflecting the alliance’s commitment to inclusive governance.

The move finalizes the leadership lineup for the opposition alliance, signaling a united front as the state gears up for the polls.
