13-06-2023 : Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s administration is facing accusations of widespread corruption as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP, Kirodi Meena, led a protest against the alleged graft. Meena stated that his party would reveal the corrupt practices of Minister Shanti Dhariwal, as well as expose scams involving mines and the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state.
During a public meeting before marching towards the secretariat, Meena claimed that there was a massive scam of Rs 5,000 crore in the Department of Information and Technology (DoIT). However, when the Anti-Corruption Bureau sought permission to investigate the matter, the chief minister reportedly denied it.
In addition, Meena announced that the BJP would expose a mines scam in the coming days and shed light on corruption cases involving the UDH minister, Shanti Dhariwal. He further highlighted an unprecedented incident where cash and gold worth Rs 2.31 crore were discovered in a locked almirah at a government building. This led to the arrest of a joint director of the DoIT by the Jaipur police.
Meena emphasized the prevalence of corruption under the Gehlot government, citing instances of leaked competitive exam papers and the subsequent investigation by the Enforcement Directorate. He claimed that the chief minister was fearful due to the ongoing scrutiny.
The BJP’s protest aimed to bring attention to the alleged rampant corruption within the Gehlot government, signaling its determination to expose the scams and graft it claims are prevalent in Rajasthan.
