India, Jan 16 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced the schedule for the election of its next national president as part of the ongoing Sangathan Parv 2026, setting January 19 for nominations and January 20 for the final announcement.
In an official statement, BJP national election in charge and Rajya Sabha MP Dr K Laxman said the electoral roll for the presidential election would be published on Friday.
As per the timetable, nominations will be filed on January 19 between 2 pm and 4 pm at the party headquarters in New Delhi. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place the same day from 4 pm to 5 pm, followed by the withdrawal window between 5 pm and 6 pm.
Dr Laxman said a formal press communiqué will be issued at 6.30 pm on January 19 after the completion of the nomination process.
The name of the new BJP national president will be officially announced on January 20 between 11.30 am and 1.30 pm at the party headquarters.
BJP working president Nitin Nabin is expected to take over as the next national president, with his elevation likely to be formalised on January 20. Nabin is a five-time Bihar MLA and a former state minister, known for his organisational skills and administrative experience.
Apart from his legislative role, Nabin has held key organisational positions at both the national and state levels and has been entrusted with important responsibilities in states such as Sikkim and Chhattisgarh. He was appointed working president of the BJP on December 14 and is now set to formally assume the party’s top post.
