BJP Calls Sat Sharma’s Rajya Sabha Win a Major Setback for Gupkar Alliance

Sat Sharma’s Rajya Sabha win seen as endorsement of development-focused politics, a setback for Gupkar Alliance

New Delhi, Oct 25 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson and former Vice Chairman, Balbir Ram Rattan, on Saturday hailed the victory of BJP candidate Sat Sharma in the Rajya Sabha elections as a significant political shift in Jammu and Kashmir, delivering a setback to the Gupkar Alliance.

According to Rattan, Sharma’s triumph underscores the public and legislators’ trust in BJP’s politics of development, stability, and nationalism. “This victory reflects the confidence of the people and their elected representatives in the policies pursued over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the strategic guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah,” he said.

Despite having only 28 legislators, the BJP secured 32 votes for Sharma, highlighting cross-party support and faith in the party’s agenda. Rattan emphasized that the result signals a move beyond caste and regional politics, with voters prioritizing development, good governance, and national unity.

“The defeat of the Gupkar Alliance demonstrates public rejection of parties engaged solely in power politics. This is a victory for the vision of a New Jammu and Kashmir progressive, peaceful, and committed to equitable development,” he added.

Rattan further stated that the outcome embodies Prime Minister Modi’s mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, aur Sabka Prayas,” and predicted that the trust shown by elected representatives will steer the region toward a new era of growth and stability.
