Jammu, Feb 11: Tensions flared in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators staged a walkout during the ongoing Budget Session, demanding an apology from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over an alleged comment made inside the House a day earlier.
The protest centred on the Chief Minister’s reported use of the phrase “Inko juute padee,” which BJP members described as inappropriate and unbecoming of legislative proceedings. Party MLAs argued that such language undermines the dignity and decorum of the Assembly.
Raising strong objections, the legislators exited the House in a coordinated protest, insisting that the Chief Minister retract the remark and issue a formal apology.
Despite the disruption, Assembly proceedings continued amid noisy scenes, highlighting the sharp exchanges between the treasury benches and the opposition during the ninth day of the session.
