Blast Suspected in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda District

Police probe incident near Jamai Masjid amid ongoing tensions after MLA Mehraj Malik’s arrest under PSA

Jammu, Sep 11: Panic gripped Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Thursday after a suspected blast was reported in Dumri Mohalla near Jamai Masjid, official sources said.

Police teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident and initiated investigations. Two individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the suspected explosion, they added.

The incident comes at a time when Doda is already on edge following the arrest of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA). His detention has triggered widespread protests, violent clashes with security forces, and the imposition of prohibitory orders in the district and adjoining areas.

Authorities said further details regarding the nature and cause of the suspected blast are awaited.
