Mumbai, Mar 13 : Veteran actor Anupam Kher marked his 72nd birthday on March 7 with a warm gathering of close friends and family, but the highlight of the evening came when his long-time friend and co-star Boman Irani surprised everyone with a musical tribute.
A video from the celebration, now circulating widely online, shows Irani seated with a guitar as he sings “Give Me Sunshine” from the film 3 Idiots. Kher was seen recording the moment, capturing the cheerful atmosphere of the intimate celebration.
The room was filled with well wishers who had gathered to celebrate the veteran star’s special day. Among those present were Kher’s mother Dulari Kher and filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, while Irani’s wife Zenobia Irani also joined the gathering. The clip, shared on Instagram by actor director Yogesh Pagare, quickly gained attention for showcasing the duo’s enduring friendship.
Recently, Kher also reflected on his journey by posting a heartfelt message to his 16-year-old self on social media, describing how he still considers himself “a boy from Shimla” who never gave up on his dreams.
On the professional front, Kher has joined the cast of the upcoming film Fauzi, starring Prabhas and directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. The story reportedly revolves around a soldier associated with the Azad Hind Fauj led by Subhas Chandra Bose, and is set in the 1940s.
Kher is also set to return with the sequel Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, alongside Boman Irani and Ranvir Shorey. The film is currently being shot in and around Delhi and is scheduled for release on August 28. His most recent project as a director, Tanvi The Great, was screened at the Cannes Film Festival before its theatrical release last year.
