Shimla, Feb 18: A bomb threat targeting the Chakkar District and Sessions Court complex in Shimla triggered a swift security response on Wednesday, though no explosives were found during a detailed search.
Police officials reported that the threatening email was sent on Tuesday to the official address of the District and Sessions Judge, Civil and Sessions Division, claiming a bomb had been planted within the court premises.
In response, Boileauganj police, assisted by a dog squad, conducted a meticulous search of the building and surrounding areas to ensure public safety. After a comprehensive inspection, authorities confirmed no suspicious objects were present, and court proceedings resumed as normal.
An FIR has been registered against unknown individuals under Sections 353(1)(b), 351(3), 351(4), and 152 of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the email and hold the perpetrators accountable.
Officials stressed that digital threats to public institutions are being taken seriously, with preventive measures being strengthened to curb misuse of electronic communication for creating panic or disruption.
