Bomb Threat Emails Sent to Mohali Schools Fortis Hospital Also Named

Police conduct anti-sabotage checks no suspicious material found after evacuations

Mohali, Feb 17 : The Mohali bomb threat emails prompted an extensive security response on Tuesday after several private schools in the Punjab district received messages warning of explosions and referencing Fortis Hospital Mohali.

According to officials, police teams immediately launched search operations across the affected campuses and carried out anti-sabotage inspections at the hospital. Non-essential services at the medical facility were temporarily suspended as a precaution, while critical operations continued uninterrupted.

Security in and around the hospital had already been heightened following the admission of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was re-admitted after experiencing exhaustion shortly after being discharged.

On Wednesday, at least sixteen private educational institutions reported receiving similar threatening emails, leading to evacuations and coordinated checks by bomb disposal squads and local law enforcement agencies. After thorough inspections, authorities confirmed that no explosive devices or suspicious objects were discovered.

The incident follows a series of comparable hoax threats reported recently in Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and parts of Haryana, all of which were later declared false alarms. Investigations are underway to trace the origin of the emails.
