New Delhi, Sep 12: A bomb threat caused widespread panic at the Delhi High Court on Friday, prompting judges and litigants to vacate courtrooms and court premises. The threat was received via e-mail by the Registrar General around 8:39 am, leading to immediate action by court staff and security agencies.
Judges were informed of the e-mail while conducting proceedings, causing some to leave their courtrooms abruptly between 11:35 am and noon. A bomb disposal squad, police, fire officials, and dog squads were deployed to conduct a thorough search of the premises.
The e-mail warned that three bombs had been planted in judges’ rooms and elsewhere in the court complex and stated that everyone should evacuate by 2 pm. Court staff, lawyers, and clerks were instructed to vacate immediately for safety.
Police confirmed that a PCR call regarding the e-mail was received in the morning and reassured that security operations were underway to ensure safety. The high court premises remain under strict surveillance as authorities continue their investigation.
