Soldiers injured in accidental explosion during routine patrol, security tightened in sensitive zones

Rajouri, June 17 : An accidental blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district on 17 June 2026 injured multiple security personnel during a routine patrol operation, raising concerns over persistent hazards in border areas of Jammu & Kashmir.

Officials stated that the incident occurred when a patrol unit came into contact with an old landmine or unexploded device planted in the forward area. A Junior Commissioned Officer and three soldiers were among those injured in the explosion.

The injured personnel were immediately evacuated to a nearby military medical facility for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable, and further specialized care is being provided.

Following the incident, security forces intensified combing operations in the surrounding region to detect additional explosive threats. Engineers and bomb disposal squads have been deployed to sanitize vulnerable stretches along the LoC.

Military authorities emphasized that such incidents underline the continued risks faced by troops deployed in high-altitude and conflict-sensitive areas, despite improved surveillance and modern security infrastructure.
