Harare, Sep 15: Zimbabwe batter Brendan Taylor created another piece of cricket history during the first ODI against Australia on Tuesday, surpassing a long standing record held by Indian great Sachin Tendulkar.
Taylor’s appearance in the match extended his career span in men’s one day international cricket beyond Tendulkar’s previous mark. The Zimbabwean has remained a key figure for his national side across multiple generations of players.
The milestone came as Zimbabwe began their three-match ODI series against Australia at Harare Sports Club. The series is part of both teams’ preparations ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Taylor, who has represented Zimbabwe at the highest level for many years, returned to international cricket after previously stepping away from the game. His continued involvement has added considerable experience to the Zimbabwean squad.
The veteran’s latest achievement highlights the longevity of his international career and places him among the most enduring players in ODI cricket.
