10-04-2023 : Three employees working at the assistant regional transport office (ARTO) in Sopore were apprehended by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Monday for accepting bribes, according to an official statement. The individuals, who were part of a group at the ARTO office in Sopore, were taking bribes from individuals seeking services such as driving licenses, vehicle registration, and NOCs.
The ACB acted on several complaints from the public, alleging that these employees were engaging in corrupt activities in collusion with touts. The arrested employees were identified as Aijaz Ahmed Mir, Farooq Ahmed Wagay, and Mohammad Ashraf Dar. In addition to the arrests, documents were seized from the office. The trio was taken into custody and is expected to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court for remand tomorrow, stated an ACB official.
