BSF IG Warns of Terrorists at LoC Launch Pads, Security on High Alert

IG BSF Kashmir Frontier warns of infiltration attempts before winter, highlights successful prevention by Army and BSF.

Srinagar, Sep 27: Terrorists are reportedly positioned at launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), waiting for opportunities to infiltrate into the Kashmir Valley, said Inspector General (IG), BSF Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Yadav stated that infiltration attempts typically increase before the onset of winter. “There are still about two months, and chances of infiltration are there till November because they know they will have lesser chances for the next six months. Attempts are always there, but the alertness of our forces makes infiltration very difficult,” he said.

Yadav added that terrorists are concentrated opposite the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors and may exploit inclement weather for movement. However, he emphasized that tight security, advanced surveillance, and coordination with the Army have so far thwarted two infiltration attempts this year.

“Along with the Army, we are dominating the LoC effectively. With new methodologies and hi-tech surveillance equipment, it is extremely difficult for anyone to breach our area of responsibility,” he said.
