Jammu, 07-02-2026: Sh. Arun Gupta President Chamber of commerce & Industry welcomed the annual budget 2026-27 presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh. Omar Abdullah in the Legislative Assembly. He described the budget as people friendly covering the aspiration of all sections of the society which reflects the firm commitments towards public welfare social equity and economic resilience as well as improving the delivery services. He said that special focus has been laid on education, health care facility, tourism, sports and IT sectors. The proposed establishment of emergency hospitals at URI and Poonch will definitely improve the emergency services and health care outcome to a great extent. He also appreciated the social security and welfare measures including free education, besides the coming up of Milk processing plants and unity Malls is a welcome step.
Sh. Arun Gupta further appreciated the development of water sports facilities at WULLAR-MANAS BAL in Srinagar and BANI-BASOLI in Jammu. He said that the provision of Water Park at Jagti Nagrota and restoration of Heritage sites and Shrines besides expansion of adventure tourism to extend the tourist season is a welcome step.
Further he said that though the Chief Minister’s historical focus is on development, but he expressed displeasure over non specific budgetary support proposed for Industries in this cycle. While incentives under the J&K Industrial Policy are under consideration there is no clarity on when they will be implemented.
He highlighted that critical benefits, such a turnover incentives and interest subsidies are set to expire in March 2026, which may worsen the financial strain on this sector.
He however welcomes the proposal to provide incentives to sick MSME units and the introduction of a “Single Certificate of in Principal Approval” with a three year grace period for new enterprises.
