Budget Session an Opportunity to Assess Progress, Strengthen Public Commitment: LG Sinha

Lieutenant Governor emphasizes inclusive development and public focused governance as Assembly debates Motion of Thanks

Jammu, Feb 2: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday highlighted the significance of the Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, describing it as a vital forum to review the Union Territory’s progress and outline future priorities.

Addressing the House on the opening day of the session, LG Sinha noted that the proceedings allow stakeholders to assess past performance, discuss key achievements, and collaboratively plan a roadmap for J&K’s growth. He stressed that the session also provides an opportunity to renew the administration’s commitment to addressing the aspirations of the people.

“For me, this occasion is not merely an exercise in accounting for resources or outcomes, but a reflection of our shared vision for a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient Jammu and Kashmir,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Expressing gratitude to residents for their contributions to the UT’s transformation, LG Sinha reaffirmed the government’s focus on public welfare and inclusive development.

The Legislative Assembly Secretariat earlier urged members to maintain decorum and dignity during the address. The Motion of Thanks debate on the LG’s speech is scheduled for February 3–5, concluding with a reply from the Chief Minister.

The Union Territory’s Budget for 2026–27 will be presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on February 6, followed by departmental discussions and presentation of demands for grants.
