Building a Stronger Community: Dogra Group of Colleges and Dogra Sadar Sabha Unite for Progress

Signs MOU with DSS

Dated: 06th July 2023 : To foster collaborations and to provide an opportunity for global experience, and facilitate the Dogra Group of Colleges’ advancement of knowledge based on reciprocity, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) and Dogra Group of Colleges (Dogra College of Education. Dogra Law College and Dogra Degree College). The objective is to bolster, mutual benefit and frequent interactions of Dogra Degree College. Dogra Law College and Dogra College of Education with DSS: The rationale for collaboration between the colleges for working under a mutually cooperative dispensation in regard to the agreed objectives include promotion and preservation of historical monuments, heritage, art and culture of Duggar land, prohibition of juvenile delinquency, discourage drinking and smoking, women empowerment & promotion of ‘Girl Child education, promote Dogri language collaboratively as per National Educational Policy-2020 for Education & organize events on socio-legal aspects. Also to organize Literary Fests to promote the language and culture, cooperate with each other in promoting social & cultural activities local to global. The MOU also included actions to provide relief measures during pandemics & disasters, promote communal harmony by celebrating festivals of all communities collaboratively, and promote Dogri language collaboratively as per National Educational Policy- 2020. They also agreed upon to promote the values in a multifarious sphere of activity so that the students develop a sense of patriotism as responsible citizens and jointly organise seminars and symposiums on topics of mutual interest and promote awareness among the masses about relevant legal provisions.

The MoU was signed by Col. Karan Singh Jamwal (Retd.), Vice-President Dogra Sadar Sabha. J&K (UT) with Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education, for Dogra College of Education with Dr. Avdhesh Pratap. Principal Dogra Law College for Dogra Law College and with Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College for Dogra Degree College  in the presence of Col. Virendra K. Sahi, Vir Chakra (Retd.), Convener Media Cell, Dogra Sadar Sabha, Dr. Shefali Sharma, IQAC Coordinator, as witnesses for Dogra College of Education, Prof. Dr. Anita Billawaria, Dogra Sadar Sabha Ms. Arushi Khajuria, IQAC Coordinator. Dogra Law College, Ms. Sumiksha Razdan. Senior Lecturer, Dogra Law College, as witnesses for Dogra Law College, Dr. Vidya Sagar Sharma, Secretary, Dogra Sadar Sabha, Ms. Kanchan Dubey, IQAC Coordinator, Dogra Degree College, as witnesses for Dogra Degree College.

Addressing the proceedings of the meeting President Dogra Sadar Sabha Th. Gulchain Singh Charak highlighted the contribution of the Dogra Sadar Sabha as the first secular and democratic organization of J&K which was established in 1904. The Sabha has always been at the forefront of maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood in Jammu & Kashmir and is striving for the cause of the people of J&K in general and Duggar Pradesh in particular. Col. Karan Singh Jamwal (Retd.), Vice-President Dogra Sadar Sabha said that that the MoU was unique and historic association between a social orgainzation i.e. Dogra Sadar Sabha and premier educational institutions i.e. Dogra Group of Colleges. The Supper Senior 96 years old veteran Maj. Gen. Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (Retd.) AVSM, member Advisory Council Dogra Sadar Sabha, who was also present in the event congratulated Dogra Sadar Sabha and Dogra Group of Colleges for taking this initiative and shared that the colleges and the Sabha can mutually stand for promotion of Dogras and Dogras culture.

Prof. Darshana Sharma, Director Dogra Group of Colleges & Campus Development highlighted that Dogra College of Education was established in Oct. 1994 for providing quality teacher education. Dogra Law College was the first in J&K to start a 5 year Law Course and thus has been a pioneer in imparting legal education in the private sector through BA LLB 5year course and LLB 3 year (Prof.) Course. Dogra Degree College established in the year 2008 is a premier educational institution of excellence delivering graduate-level courses (Business Management, Commerce and Humanities) with a contemporary outlook. All the three colleges are recognized by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir, affiliated to University of Jammu, ISO 9001:2015 certified and recognized by the University Grants Commission under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. In addition Dogra College of Education and Dogra Degree College are NAAC accredited and the Dogra Law College is awaiting its NAAC Peer Team Visit. She further added that the signing of the MoU would be mutually beneficial for both the parties and would further lead to cultural and social development of the region and promote the cause of the Dogras. Student Council members of all the three colleges also participated in the proceeding of the event. Ms. Akshita Magotra (B.Ed 4 Semester), President Student Council, Dogra College of Education, Mr. Haaris Khan (BA LLB 5year of 10″ Semester), President Student Council, Dogra Law College and Ms. Ritika Kundal (BA 3 Year), President Student Council, Dogra Degree College were present at the time of signing of the MoU.
