CBI arrests a Superintendent of Post for Accepting Bribe of Rs. 1.30 Lakh

10-12-2020 : The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Superintendent of Post, Contai Division, District Midnapure (East), West Bengal for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.1.3 lakh from the complainant.

CBI has registered a case u/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 (as amended vide PC Amendment Act, 2018) on a complaint from Postal Assistant, Manglamaro Sub Office, Contai Division, East Midnapore. It was alleged that the accused had demanded Rs 1.5 lakh for issuing the relieving order of the complainant who was on transfer. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 1.3 lakh from the complainant.

Searches were conducted at the residence & office premises of the accused, at Midnapore (East) which led to the recovery of cash of Rs.3.62 lakh (approx) and incriminating documents.

The accused was produced before the Court of Special Judge, CBI, Cases, Kolkata and was remanded to Judicial Custody till 23.12.2020.
