CBI conducts searches in an on-going investigation of a case related to death of a doctor

16-02-2021: The Central Bureau of Investigation has conducted searches in an on-going investigation of a case related to the death of Dr. Deepti at 02 premises of the accused at Agra (Uttar Pradesh). Incriminating evidence/material in the form of documents/exhibits relevant to the case including laptop, mobile phones, and documents relating to various bank accounts & immovable assets were recovered.

CBI had registered a case on 22.01.2021 against 05 accused including husband of deceased in compliance with the orders dated 17.12.2020 of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and taken over the investigation of case crime No. 623/2020, earlier registered at Police Station Tajganj, District Agra (Uttar Pradesh) regarding the death of Dr. Deepti. The father of the deceased had leveled allegations that the deceased Dr. Deepti was killed by the in-laws and her husband.  It was further alleged that the accused were continuously demanding dowry and used to torture her for the sake of dowry. It was also alleged that the father of the deceased had tried to meet the demands of dowry many times but that did not satisfy the in-laws and ultimately she was tortured and died on 06.08.2020. The husband of the deceased, arrested earlier by local police, is in Judicial Custody.

Investigation is continuing.
