Srinagar, Dec 26: A young CBI prosecutor, Sheikh Adil Nabi, tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident near Banihal on Thursday, officials confirmed on Friday. The incident has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity and his native Bijbehara area in Anantnag district.
The accident occurred around 3:00 pm when Nabi, aged 35, was travelling in an Alto (JK10) from Banihal towards Kashmir. Near the Banihal railway crossing, his vehicle was struck by a Scorpio bearing registration JK01BB-2625.
Sheikh Adil Nabi, who had recently cleared the UPSC examination and joined the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a Public Prosecutor in Chandigarh, suffered critical injuries in the collision. He was first taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for initial treatment, then referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, and finally shifted to SKIMS Soura for advanced care. Despite efforts by medical teams, he passed away Friday morning.
Local authorities and colleagues expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the promising young prosecutor, whose dedication and professional achievements had earned him widespread respect.
