CBI Questions Anil Ambani’s Son in ₹228 Crore Bank Fraud Probe

Son of Anil Ambani examined for six hours; agency asks him to appear again as investigation into alleged financial irregularities at Reliance Home Finance Ltd. intensifies.

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday questioned Jai Anmol Ambani as part of its investigation into an alleged ₹228 crore bank fraud linked to Reliance Home Finance Ltd. (RHFL). The businessman arrived at the agency’s headquarters in the national capital and was examined by investigators for nearly six hours.

Officials said he has been asked to return on Saturday for additional questioning as the probe continues. The agency is examining alleged financial irregularities connected to loans extended to the housing finance firm.

The case was registered on December 6, 2025, naming RHFL, Jai Anmol Ambani, former chief executive officer Ravindra Sudhalkar, along with certain public servants and private individuals.

According to investigators, the action stems from a complaint filed by Union Bank of India earlier known as Andhra Bank which accused the accused parties of criminal conspiracy, cheating and misconduct that allegedly caused losses of ₹228 crore.

Authorities noted that the loan account linked to RHFL was first classified as a non-performing asset in September 2019 and was later declared a fraud account on October 10, 2024.

The investigation is not limited to a single lender. Officials said the company reportedly had outstanding liabilities amounting to ₹5,572.3 crore to a consortium of 18 banks, financial institutions and corporate lenders.

The latest questioning comes after searches carried out in Mumbai on December 9, 2025. During those operations, investigators raided RHFL offices as well as the residences associated with Ambani and Sudhalkar, seizing documents believed to be relevant to the inquiry.
