CBSE Announces Skill-Based Curriculum Expansion For Senior Secondary Students

New Vocational Courses To Be Introduced In Schools From Upcoming Session

New Delhi, May 15: The Central Board of Secondary Education has announced the expansion of skill-based and vocational courses for Classes 11 and 12 in affiliated schools across the country.

Officials said the revised curriculum aims to improve employability among students and align school education with industry requirements. The board plans to introduce additional subjects linked to artificial intelligence, financial literacy, healthcare assistance and digital marketing.

According to CBSE authorities, schools will receive updated teaching guidelines and training modules for educators before the new academic session begins.

The board stated that practical learning and project-based assessment methods would receive greater emphasis under the revised structure. Students will also have opportunities to participate in internships and industry interaction programmes.

Educationists said the initiative could help students develop professional skills at an early stage and prepare them for evolving job markets.

CBSE officials added that schools in smaller towns and rural areas would receive special support to implement vocational learning infrastructure effectively.

The curriculum changes are expected to benefit lakhs of students pursuing higher secondary education in both science and commerce streams.
