CBSE Curriculum Reform Emphasises Skills and Holistic Learning

New Class 9 framework aligns with National Curriculum goals and real-world applications

India, Apr 09 : India’s school education system is undergoing a major transformation with the introduction of a revised curriculum for Class 9 by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The new framework, aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, focuses on holistic development and skill based learning.

The updated curriculum integrates eight core areas, including languages, science, mathematics, social science, and vocational education. It places strong emphasis on experiential learning, critical thinking, and real world problem solving.

A key highlight is the restructuring of language education under a three language policy, offering a wide range of Indian and foreign languages. The curriculum also promotes interdisciplinary learning and encourages students to connect academic knowledge with practical applications.

Experts believe that the shift will prepare students for future challenges by fostering creativity, adaptability, and innovation. Schools have already begun transitioning to the new system, with further changes expected in higher classes in the coming years.

The reform marks a significant step toward modernizing India’s education system and aligning it with global standards.
