New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has strongly refuted allegations made by Class 12 student Vedant Shrivastava regarding irregularities in the revaluation of his examination results, describing his claims as “factually incorrect” and a “blatant lie.”
In an official clarification, the board stated that Shrivastava had recently alleged on social media that his marks increased by only one mark in two subjects and that his Physics score remained unchanged after re-evaluation. However, CBSE asserted that its records clearly indicate that his Physics marks increased by nine marks following the re-evaluation process.
The board said the claims circulating online do not reflect the actual outcome of the review and urged students and the public to rely only on official information released through authorised channels.
Providing an update on the ongoing revaluation exercise, CBSE informed that 99.7 per cent of all applications received for the Class 12 verification and re-evaluation process have already been processed. The remaining cases are currently in the final stage of examination, and the corresponding results will be declared shortly.
Officials highlighted that the revaluation process follows a structured and transparent procedure to ensure fairness and accuracy in the assessment of answer sheets. According to the board, each request is examined in accordance with established guidelines before revised marks, if any, are awarded.
The board also referred to last year’s schedule, noting that in 2025, the declaration of revaluation results commenced on June 27 and concluded on July 11, indicating that the present timeline remains broadly consistent with previous years.
Vedant Shrivastava had first drawn national attention in May after posting on social media platform X, alleging that his original Physics answer sheet had been exchanged with another student’s answer sheet. The allegation sparked widespread discussion online and raised questions among students regarding the evaluation process followed by CBSE.
Following those claims, the board reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and safeguarding the integrity of the examination system. It maintained that every grievance submitted through official channels is carefully examined before a final decision is communicated to the candidate.
Earlier, on June 21, CBSE had announced the phased release of verification and re-evaluation outcomes for Class 12 students. At that stage, the board had stated that more than 87 per cent of applications had already been processed and the remaining results would be published in phases.
In a message shared on X, CBSE assured students that the review process was progressing smoothly and that all pending applications would be completed within a short period. The board encouraged candidates to remain patient and wait for official notifications instead of relying on unverified information circulating on social media.
Education experts have observed that the growing use of digital platforms allows examination-related issues to gain rapid public attention, making timely official clarifications increasingly important. They emphasised that students should utilise the prescribed grievance redressal mechanism whenever concerns arise regarding evaluation or re-evaluation.
With the revaluation process nearing completion, CBSE has reiterated that it remains committed to conducting examinations and result reviews in a transparent, impartial and student-centric manner while ensuring that every application receives due consideration under established procedures.
