Centre Sanctions Over 5,000 Houses for Disaster-Affected Rural Families in J&K

SRINAGAR, Sept 27: In a major boost to rural rehabilitation, the Central Government has approved the construction of 5,061 houses for families in rural Jammu & Kashmir who were affected by recent natural calamities. This initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) special project, aimed at providing safe and resilient housing to disaster hit communities.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the swift action. “This initiative will restore safety, stability, and economic confidence among thousands of affected households,” the LG said, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the welfare of rural communities in the region.
