16-08-2023 : Sh. Arun Gupta President Chamber of Commerce & Industry alongwith Office Bearers namely Sh. Rajeev Gupta, Jr. Vice President,Sh. Manish Gupta, Secretary General and Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Secretary today called on Sh. Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Hon’ble LG today in his office chambers. Sh. Arun Gupta apprised the Advisor that there is urgent need to redefine the Land types as large chunk of land in Jammu have been declared as “Gair Mumkin Khad” by Revenue Department despite the fact that no water body is passing through these lands. Registration and Construction activities on these lands is barred. There are many Industrialists who want to establish their units on the land which comes under the purview of Khad Land. There is the need to redefine the “Kism” of this type of land and also a Policy should be formulated to allow the commercial and construction activities on those lands, so that the dream of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India that maximum investment should come in our UT.
Sh. Arun Gupta further apprised him that the Govt. have fixed Circle Rates at very exaggerated rate while the actual prevalent rates are much low. Whereas Govt. is encouraging the entrepreneurs to establish their own industrial estate but such exaggerated circle rate is becoming a big hurdle in this process.
We request that the circle rates be suitably brought down to match with the prevalent market rates.
Sh. Arun Gupta also said that The Water pipes have been laid many many years ago and there is leakage of water from these old pipes at so many places due to which the people of Jammu are forced to drink the substandard/contaminated water. We request that these old / damage water pipes should be removed and fresh water pipes be laid so that the people can get potable drinking water.
Sh. Arun Gupta further apprised the Hon’ble Advisor that to reduce the rush of patients on Government Medical College Jammu, the emergency services alongwith HUD(High dependency Units) be started in Gandhi Nagar and Sarwal Hospitals so that the patients from different areas can get emergency services in a better way.
While taking up the matter regarding smart meters Sh. Arun Gupta pointed out that the Consumers are complaining that smart meters are running very fast as compared to digital meters installed earlier and there is also drastic increase in power bills after the installation of the smart meters.
He request the Hon’ble Advisor to look into the grievances of the public (consumers) and hold this process until their grievances are sorted out. He also said that since the consumers of PDD are paying their power bills regularly the process of prepaid system of power bills should not be introduced in Jammu which we think is against the fundamental rights of the consumers.
Sh. Arun Gupta further apprised him that the Roads of Jammu almost everywhere are damaged and there are deep ditches which are hampering the free flow of traffic. No work to repair these damaged roads has been under taken since last 2-3 months. We request that these roads be got repaired at the earliest.
He also said that the contractors who are also our members are not getting the payment for the works they have completed / executed, allotted to them by different departments and urged that their payments should be released at the earliest.
While reacting Sh. Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Hon’ble Advisor assured that the issues raised in today’s meeting by Chamber of Commerce & Industry will be considered and the issues pertaining to other departments will be taken up with the higher / concerned authorities.
