NEW DELHI, Sept 10: China on Thursday called for a fair, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies operating in India, while describing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries as mutually beneficial.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing attaches importance to maintaining stable economic and commercial relations with New Delhi and hopes the two sides can create favourable conditions for businesses.
The remarks came amid efforts by India and China to improve economic engagement following a period of strained bilateral relations.
Beijing said cooperation between the two major Asian economies could benefit businesses and consumers in both countries. It also stressed the importance of maintaining a stable and predictable environment for trade and investment.
Chinese companies have a significant presence across several segments of the Indian market, including consumer electronics, automobiles, manufacturing and technology-related industries.
The latest statement indicates China’s interest in expanding commercial engagement with India while seeking greater certainty for its businesses operating in the country.
For New Delhi, economic ties with China remain an important component of its broader trade strategy, even as India continues efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing and diversify supply chains.
