Chugh Terms Rahul & Priyanka a Liability for Congress, Opposition Bloc; Urges Omar to Refrain from Politicizing Statehood Issue

Statehood to J&K: A Commitment, Not a Political Tool

Jammu, Feb 11: BJP National General Secretary and Incharge of Jammu and Kashmir, Tarun Chugh, launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, branding Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as liabilities not just for their party but also for the opposition alliance and the nation as a whole. Addressing reporters after unveiling the statues of BJP ideologues Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Chugh asserted that the Congress is a rudderless entity with neither a strong leadership nor a coherent vision for the country.

Taking an indirect dig at Rahul and Priyanka, Chugh remarked, “Congress is a liability in the INDIA bloc, and so are its inexperienced, unworthy, and unsuccessful ‘Yuvraj’ and ‘Yuvrani’ who have failed their party, their alliance, and the country.”  He accused the opposition of merely forming an alliance to shield its corrupt practices rather than working for the welfare of the people.

Chugh further asserted that the INDIA bloc, which has been facing continuous electoral setbacks in Haryana, Maharashtra, and most recently in Delhi, is nothing more than a coalition of opportunistic parties that have historically been at odds with each other. “These parties, despite their ideological differences, have united solely to protect their corrupt interests and push the unfit political heirs into positions of power. However, the people of India have seen through their game and have outrightly rejected their deceitful agenda,” he said.

Highlighting the recent electoral drubbing faced by Congress in Delhi, Chugh pointed out that the party has failed to cross the zero mark in the national capital for the fifth consecutive election, proving that the people have voted against corruption and inefficiency. “The INDIA bloc was created with two objectives—covering up corruption and regaining power to continue the same. However, the voters have rejected them on both counts,” he added.

Chugh exuded confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing that the BJP’s performance in Delhi will have a ripple effect in Punjab and other poll-bound states. He claimed that the people of Delhi are increasingly disillusioned with the ‘AAP-DA’ (AAP-Delhi Alliance) government, while the AAP government in Punjab, led by Bhagwant Mann, has completely failed to deliver on its promises.

“Punjab is reeling under deteriorating law and order, with daily killings and grenade attacks on police stations. The promises of waiving farmers’ loans, providing jobs to every family, and improving governance have all fallen flat. The people of Punjab are losing faith in AAP, and BJP is steadily gaining ground in the state,” he asserted.

On the issue of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, Chugh reaffirmed the BJP-led central government’s commitment to restoring it at the right time. He criticized former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for attempting to politicize the matter instead of focusing on governance.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have already assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that statehood will be restored. The promise will be fulfilled soon, and there is no need for Omar Abdullah to engage in political theatrics over the issue. Instead, he should concentrate on fulfilling his election promises, especially addressing the concerns of daily wagers and laborers, which his government has completely ignored so far,” Chugh remarked.
