Srinagar, Sept 30: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth Rs 36.50 crore in Ganderbal district, focusing on enhancing sports, power, and road infrastructure.
During his extensive tour of the district, Abdullah inaugurated six major sports projects at Beehama, including upgrades to Beehama Stadium, Madr-e-Meherban Stadium, and playfields at Gund Rehman, Manigam, Wakura, and Batwina. He also unveiled new sports equipment and witnessed youth performances in Judo, Thang-Ta, and Yoga.
At Saloora, the Chief Minister dedicated a 33/11 kilovolt, 1×6 Megavolt-Ampere receiving station, strengthening local power infrastructure. He also inaugurated a pre fabricated indoor badminton hall at the Government College of Physical Education in Gadoora, alongside a 400-metre synthetic athletic track and a synthetic football turf. Abdullah actively participated in a friendly badminton match and a 100-metre sprint for girls.
In addition, Abdullah laid foundation stones for four crucial road projects aimed at improving district connectivity. These include the upgradation of Shajinga Link Road and Khatijinag Road, construction and upgradation of Dar Mohallah Watalbagh Dangerpora Road, Pati Waskura-Kharbagh Road, and Tehsil Bagh Lar Bypass Yanihama Dangerpora Road.
The Chief Minister emphasized that these initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to youth engagement, sports development, and better infrastructure across Ganderbal.
