CM Omar Abdullah to Meet 24 Departments in Pre-Budget Exercise for 2026–27

Finance Minister Omar Abdullah begins consultations today Budget scheduled for February 6

Jammu, Jan 20: Ahead of the Jammu & Kashmir budget session for 2026–27, Chief Minister and Finance Minister Omar Abdullah will begin chairing pre-budget consultations with 24 administrative departments from Tuesday.

According to the Finance Department’s itinerary, Abdullah will hold meetings with eight departments for which he is directly in charge on January 20. On January 21 and 22, he will preside over consultations with the remaining departments headed by his cabinet ministers.

The Finance Department has directed ministers, the Chief Minister’s Advisor, the Chief Secretary, and administrative secretaries to attend these key meetings.

The J&K Budget 2026–27 is scheduled to be presented by CM Abdullah in the Assembly on February 6. This will be the second budget he is presenting himself, following the 2025–26 budget delivered on March 7, 2025.

The pre-budget consultations are intended to finalise proposals and allocations for various departments ahead of the formal budget presentation, ensuring a structured discussion on priorities for the upcoming financial year.
