CM Omar Abdullah Wishes Eid, Calls for End to “Illegal” US-Israel War

Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister highlights Middle East conflict’s impact on India while extending Eid reflections

SRINAGAR, Mar 21: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday called for an immediate end to what he described as the “illegal” war imposed by the United States and Israel, stressing its far-reaching effects on the Muslim world and India.

Speaking to reporters after offering Eid prayers at Hazratbal Shrine, Abdullah said, “Today, I only prayed for an end to this illegal war that has been imposed on us by the United States and Israel. The entire Muslim world is going through an uncertain period, as no Muslim country remains unaffected.”

He highlighted the war’s domestic impact, noting, “It affects Muslims in India sentimentally and every Indian in terms of energy needs. People are struggling to access cooking gas and diesel required for their households.”

Abdullah also expressed disappointment over the continued closure of Jamia Masjid at Nowhatta in Srinagar for congregational prayers on Eid for the seventh consecutive year. “There is a mismatch between words and deeds of those in charge of security. While authorities claim everything is normal, the historic mosque remains closed. I hope such decisions will change in the future,” he said.
