Jammu, 22 July 2025: It is with profound concern and disappointment that Pawan Sharma, Senior Leader and State Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu and Kashmir, issues this statement to address the escalating public discontent and policy drift under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Sharma stated that While Jammu and Kashmir stands at a crucial juncture—yearning for peace, stability, and sustainable development—the Chief Minister continues to focus on non-essential, divisive, and symbolic issues that neither reflect the aspirations of the people nor contribute meaningfully to the state’s progress.
Sharma further stated that rather than focusing on long-overdue infrastructure development, regularization of daily wagers, youth employment, industrial investment and strengthening democratic institutions at the grassroots level, the government is preoccupied with headline-grabbing distractions. These include superficial administrative reshuffles, unnecessary debates on linguistic or ceremonial matters, and misplaced emphasis on identity politics—all of which fail to address the fundamental concerns of the common citizen.
Unemployment in the state continues to rise at an alarming rate, especially among educated youth. There is no comprehensive job creation plan or vocational initiative from the state government.
Infrastructure projects, particularly in remote and border areas, are either stalled or deliberately slowed down due to bureaucratic inefficiency and political indifference.
Agricultural and rural development have taken a back seat, with no major policy reforms to support our farmers and marginalized communities.
Pawan Sharma observed that the Chief Minister’s recent actions reveal a disturbing disconnect from the pressing governance issues. By prioritizing symbolic gestures over policy substance, he inadvertently hinders Jammu and Kashmir’s progress toward real empowerment.
He stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are not seeking rhetoric—they are demanding tangible outcomes. They require effective governance, transparency, accountability, and most importantly, a sense of optimism for a brighter future. It is imperative for the Chief Minister to reassess his priorities and concentrate on core developmental objectives and national interests.
The Bharatiya Janata Party remains dedicated to championing the rights of all citizens to experience growth, dignity, and safety. We urge the administration to shift its focus away from trivial matters and instead fulfill the promises made to the people of this great state, said Sharma.
