Jammu, Feb 4: In preparation for his maiden budget presentation in the upcoming Assembly session beginning March 3, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds the Finance portfolio, has scheduled a series of pre-budget consultations with Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and District Development Council (DDC) chairpersons.
The consultations, set to commence tomorrow, aim to incorporate diverse perspectives and ensure that the budget is more inclusive and aligned with grassroots developmental needs. The Chief Minister will engage with MLAs from four districts each on Wednesday and Thursday to gather inputs on priority sector allocations and regional developmental concerns.
On Wednesday, Omar will meet MLAs and DDC chairpersons from Anantnag, Budgam, Kathua, and Samba districts, followed by similar discussions with representatives from Baramulla, Kulgam, Ramban, and Udhampur on Thursday. These interactions will provide legislators with an opportunity to highlight key projects and areas that require urgent financial attention.
As part of this initiative, MLAs will be invited to identify priority sector works amounting to ₹40 crore for their respective constituencies. The government is keen on ensuring that budget allocations reflect ground realities and address pressing developmental needs. District Commissioners (DCs) have already submitted lists of recommended priority works, which will be assessed and incorporated into the budget planning process.
