Lucknow, Dec 17: Uttar Pradesh is steadily progressing towards becoming a USD 1-trillion economy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday, after reviewing the state’s ongoing initiatives and departmental performance.
Chairing a high level meeting, the CM conducted a comprehensive review of departmental expenditure and budget utilization for the financial year 2025-26, directing officials to expedite work and ensure timely completion of all assigned targets.
Officials noted that UP’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) reached ₹29.78 lakh crore, with the state contributing 9% to the national economy in 2024-25, up from 8.6% in 2022-23. Nearly 93% of the GSDP target has already been achieved, and efforts are underway to reach ₹42 lakh crore.
Adityanath stressed the importance of continuous monitoring, directing ministers to review departmental initiatives monthly, while the chief secretary and senior officials conduct weekly and fortnightly assessments. He also called for real-time data uploads and faster data collection from all departments.
Highlighting agriculture, the CM noted that UP contributes 21% of India’s total foodgrain production. He urged focused strategies to boost farmers’ income and maintain food and nutrition security, citing the state’s agricultural growth rate of over 13%.
On infrastructure and public welfare, Adityanath emphasized road safety, particularly during foggy conditions, and asked the transport department to rationalize commercial vehicle registration fees and expand quality bus services.
Tourism growth also featured in the review, with the CM highlighting that UP received a record 125 crore visitors under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Social welfare schemes, such as the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, were also discussed. Adityanath suggested advancing partial financial assistance for wedding purchases and instructed officials to speed up the establishment of digital libraries at the gram panchayat level with fully equipped computers.
The Chief Minister further directed officials to maintain close coordination with the central government to ensure timely receipt of funds and emphasized strict adherence to budget timelines.
With robust monitoring mechanisms, accelerated project execution, and a focus on agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh is advancing steadily on its path to becoming a USD 1-trillion economy.
