CM Yogi Invites PM Modi to Inaugurate Jewar Airport

CM Yogi invites PM Modi to launch India’s largest airport in UP, highlighting state’s infrastructure growth

Lucknow, Mar 19: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Wednesday that the state government has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Jewar International Airport, marking a significant milestone in the state’s infrastructure development. The proposed date for the inauguration is March 28.

Speaking at the release of his book Nav Nirman ke 9 Varsh, the CM described Jewar, the state’s fifth international airport, as the largest in the country and ready for operations. He emphasized that the airport is expected to boost economic activity and generate nearly ₹1 lakh crore in revenue for the state over time.

Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s broader transformation, Yogi noted that the state now operates 16 airports, including four international facilities, with air connectivity playing a key role in attracting investment and supporting industrial growth.

The Chief Minister also pointed to other infrastructure achievements, including India’s largest railway network, metro services across seven cities, and the first Rapid Rail corridor connecting Meerut to Delhi. Ongoing projects such as India’s first ropeway in Varanasi and the Varanasi-Haldia inland waterway were also cited as examples of the state’s ambitious development agenda.

Regarding road infrastructure, Yogi said 55% of India’s expressways are in Uttar Pradesh, with the Ganga Expressway expected to raise the share to 60% later this month. He noted that all district headquarters are now connected by four-lane roads, strengthening intra state connectivity.

The CM added that these infrastructure improvements, combined with governance reforms and a zero tolerance approach to corruption, have positioned Uttar Pradesh as a preferred destination for domestic and international investors, citing recent investment interest from delegations to Japan, Singapore, and Germany.
