NEW DELHI, June 6: A significant gathering of students and young citizens assembled at Jantar Mantar on Saturday as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) held a demonstration focused on alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and recruitment processes. The event witnessed participation from school pupils, university students, and young professionals from different parts of the country.
Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the online youth movement, joined supporters in the national capital and reiterated calls for a peaceful and disciplined campaign. Participants arrived carrying flowers and national flags, while many wore symbolic cockroach themed masks associated with the movement.
The demonstration centred on demands for greater transparency and accountability in examinations, including entrance tests and recruitment assessments. Protesters voiced concerns over issues they believe have affected the credibility of several educational and employment-related examinations.
Families were also present at the venue, with several parents accompanying students to the gathering. Throughout the event, organisers encouraged participants to maintain order and engage constructively while expressing their views.
Social activist Sonam Wangchuk extended support to the movement and stated that he would begin a six-week fast if legal action is taken against Dipke. The statement added a new dimension to the ongoing debate surrounding examination reforms and youth participation in public discourse.
Ahead of the demonstration, Dipke used social media platforms to encourage supporters to carry books and the national flag while promoting a message of peaceful engagement. He also appealed to attendees to show respect towards security personnel by offering flowers as a symbol of goodwill and cooperation.
Authorities implemented extensive security arrangements across Delhi before the event. Additional checks were conducted at key transit points, including the airport and border entry locations, while a large police presence was maintained around the protest site and other sensitive areas.
According to officials, more than a thousand personnel were deployed across strategic locations to ensure law and order. Organisers, meanwhile, repeatedly urged participants to avoid confrontation and adhere to non-violent methods of protest.
The gathering concluded amid tight security and without major disruptions, reflecting the organisers’ emphasis on peaceful civic action while drawing attention to demands for reforms in the examination and recruitment system.
