JAMMU, May 21: In a significant move aimed at bolstering economic growth and empowering local enterprises, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced the constitution of a dedicated committee focused on improving the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operating within the Union Territory. This strategic initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to streamlining business operations, reducing bureaucratic hurdles, and fostering a more conducive environment for entrepreneurship and investment in the region.
The newly constituted committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of recommending comprehensive measures to enhance the operational ecosystem for MSMEs. It will examine existing regulatory frameworks and suggest ways to simplify or eliminate redundant compliance processes that currently hinder business efficiency. By doing so, the committee seeks to significantly reduce the regulatory burden on small and medium enterprises, thereby promoting smoother business functioning.
In addition to regulatory reforms, the committee will also identify non-regulatory barriers that MSMEs routinely encounter, ranging from infrastructure limitations and market access issues to financial constraints and workforce challenges. By addressing these obstacles, the panel aims to lay the groundwork for an inclusive, resilient, and growth-oriented business environment that encourages innovation and sustainability among MSMEs in J&K.
A critical focus area for the committee will be to propose a structured roadmap for integrating unregistered or informal business entities into the formal MSME framework. This is expected to expand access to government schemes, credit facilities, and legal protections, enabling smaller enterprises to scale operations and contribute more effectively to the local and national economy.
