Congress Appoints New Leadership in Lok Sabha: Gogoi, Suresh, Tagore, and Jawed

New Delhi, 14-07-2024 : In a recent announcement, Gaurav Gogoi has been appointed as the Deputy Leader of the Congress party in the Lok Sabha. This decision was communicated to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla through a letter from Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The letter outlined the appointments of the deputy leader, chief whip, and two whips for the Congress party in the Lower House of Parliament, as stated by AICC General Secretary for Organization, K.C. Venugopal, on X.

Gogoi will serve as the Deputy Leader, while eight-time MP from Kerala, Kodikunnil Suresh, has been named the party’s Chief Whip. Additionally, Virudhunagar MP Manickam Tagore and Kishanganj MP Mohammad Jawed will assume the roles of party whips in the Lok Sabha.

This announcement follows the earlier appointment of Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of Opposition. Under the guidance of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, the Congress and other INDIA parties are committed to vigorously advocating for the people’s interests in the Lok Sabha, Venugopal added.

The new leadership team is expected to play a crucial role in steering the party’s legislative agenda and ensuring disciplined coordination among party members in the Lok Sabha.
