Jammu, Nov 26- Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress today celebrated the Constitution Day as a pledge day and declared to protect and respect it as a holy book of all, irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion and cautioned the people about the challenges to the spirit of the Constitution.
An impressive function was held at Party Hq Jammu which was chaired by Senior Leader and former Minister Shri Mula Ram Bhagat and attended by senior functionaries of PCC, District presidents, frontal wings and Block Presidents.
Prominent amongst them include Kanta Bhan, Yogesh Sawhney, Ravinder Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Hari Singh Chib , Gurdarshan Singh, Krishan Lal Gupta, Sanjeev Panda, Manjit Singh Jatt, Imtiaz Ahmed Khandey, Narinder Gupta, Suresh Dogra, Udey Chib, Vijay Sharma, Tamanna Heer, Dr R K Khajuria, Er Rajinder Happy, Rattan Lal Sharma, Kewel Jogi, Ajaib Motton, M R Puri, Sdr Rajinder Singh Nathu, Nasir Massih, Latish Sharma, Sat Pal Spolia and ors.
Addressing the gathering Shri Mula Ram said that constitition of India is like the holy book of the country accepted and respected by all countrymen, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, religion or region. Our forefathers gave the best law book headed by a great legal luminary and social reformer Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar who struggled a lot for the poor and down trodden.
He lauded the services of father of the Constitution Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar in framing a Constitution which has stood the test of time and incorporated the aspirations of all sections of the pluralistic country and as a result India is a successful as largest democracy of the world.
He referred to the wisdom of great leaders Mahatma Gandhi and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru and others in the selection of a veteran social reformer and eminent jurist as Chairman of the Constitution drafting committee and also appointing Dr Ambedkar as first Law minister of Independent India.
Shri Mula Ram said that the Constitution is under great stress and strain today for which all right thinking people have to unitedly fight to safeguard the Constitution and it’s spirit. He said Congress party especially Shri Rahul Gandhi is fighting to protect the democracy and the Constitution which is need of hour.
Shri Ravinder Sharma in his address referred to the struggle for framing a Constitution acceptable to all sections of the society and lauded the services of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the drafting committee as well as the constituent assembly who in a collective wisdom gave us the best Constitution which suited our country. He felt the need to safeguard the constitution in the wake of challenges.
Smt. Kanta Bhan praised the leadership for framing a constitution fulfilling the aspirations of different sections of our multi religious and multi sections of the country and stressed upon protecting the constitution and its implementation in true spirit.
Former Minister Shri Yogesh Sawhney remembered the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee who represented the aspirations of all sections of our pluralistic country especially the downtrodden and oppressed classes and incorporating equality for all irrespective of caste, creed , colour and religion.
He lashed out at the present Govt. for trying to undermine the constitutional institutions in the Country and to weaken the Constitution and its authority thus crushing the voice and rights of the people.
Th. Manmohan Singh in his address referred to the present challenges and the attacks on the Constitution and attempts to weaken the constitutional and the democratic institutions in the Country and asked the people to stand against such attempts of the Govt.
Th. Hari Singh Chib-President DCC Jammu Rural recalled the contributions of Dr. Ambedkar and the great stalwarts of the Country and the Congress party in the framing of the secular and socialistic constitution aimed at equality and equal opportunities for all and said that the spirit of the constitution and its implementation can only keep our country united and strong.
Several other speakers referred to the important features of the Constitution and lauded the services of Dr. Ambedkar and the stalwarts of the Congress party for coming to the expectations of all and stressed upon the need to counter the attacks on the Constitution.
