Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge Undergoes Pacemaker Implant, Confirms Son Priyank

Son Priyank Kharge confirms Congress chief is stable after undergoing planned pacemaker procedure at MS Ramaiah Hospital.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has been hospitalised in Bengaluru for a pacemaker implant, his son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge confirmed on Wednesday.

The 83 year old veteran leader was admitted to MS Ramaiah Hospital after he developed fever and complained of fatigue. Following medical evaluation, doctors advised him to undergo a pacemaker implant procedure.

“Sri Kharge was advised a pacemaker to be implanted and is admitted to the hospital for the planned procedure,” Priyank Kharge said in a post on X. He also assured that the Congress chief is stable and recovering well.

Several party leaders extended their wishes for Kharge’s speedy recovery. Congress leader Srinivas BV posted, “Wishing our Congress President, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge ji, a speedy recovery and good health. I pray for your well being and look forward to seeing you back in full energy very soon.”

This is not the first health scare for Kharge. In September last year, he was hospitalised in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, after he collapsed during a rally. Despite the incident, Kharge had remarked defiantly, “I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power.”
