Jammu, Dec. 18 :  A meeting of Pradesh Mahila Congress was held at PCC HQ here today in which newly appointed  Senior Vice President Pradesh Mahila Congress  Smt. Inderjeet Kour was  felicitated.

Shri Raman Bhalla former Minister & Working President JKPCC was chief guest, while the meeting presided over by Smt. Shameema Raina President Pradesh Mahila Congress.

Speaking on the occasion  Shri Bhalla congratulated to Smt. Inderjeet Kaur Randhawa on being appointed as Senior Vice-President, Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Mahila Congress. This well-deserved responsibility reflects her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Congress party and women’s empowerment, Bhalla wished her great success in this new role and expressed confident that her experience will further strengthen the organization in Jammu & Kashmir.

JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla recalled that it was the Congress party which brought 33 per cent reservation for women in Panchayati Raj Institutions, enabling lakhs of women across the country to enter grassroots governance and decision-making. He said landmark legislations such as the Dowry Prohibition Act, Equal Remuneration Act, Domestic Violence Act, and maternity benefits were outcomes of Congress’s progressive vision, aimed at ensuring dignity, safety and equality for women.

Highlighting economic empowerment, Bhalla said Congress governments consistently focused on women-centric welfare by strengthening Self Help Groups, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and introducing schemes that enhanced women’s financial independence. He added that the Congress continues to advocate for stronger representation of women in Parliament and Assemblies, and has proposed concrete guarantees like direct financial support and increased job opportunities for women, reflecting its people-centric ideology.

In contrast, Bhalla accused the BJP government of betraying the aspirations of women, stating that rising inflation, unemployment and cuts in social sector spending have hit women the hardest. He said despite tall claims, crimes against women have increased, frontline women workers remain underpaid, and the BJP has failed to ensure effective implementation of women-safety laws. “Empowerment cannot be achieved through slogans alone; it needs intent and action, which the BJP lacks,” he asserted.

Raman Bhalla urged women to unite under the banner of Congress to safeguard their rights and future, stating that only the Congress party has the vision, experience and credibility to deliver true gender justice. He reaffirmed that the Congress women wing will continue to raise issues concerning women at every platform and fight against policies that weaken social justice, equality and democratic values.
