Congress Leader Tariq Hameed Karra Urges Opposition to Foil BJP’s Polarizing Agenda

29-10-2023 : Tariq Hameed Karra, a senior Congress leader and Member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), addressed a large gathering in Surankote, Poonch district, emphasizing the significance of the forthcoming Parliamentary and Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He asserted that these elections would determine who governs the region and how it will be governed for years to come.

Karra appealed to the public to recognize the gravity of the situation, cautioning that future generations might not forgive them if they fail to act. He recalled similar warnings he had given to the PDP in the past and how those warnings had materialized as a political catastrophe.

He stressed the need to rise above party politics, regionalism, and caste-based politics to unite against the communal and polarizing agenda of the BJP. Karra emphasized that the Congress was the only viable option, with Rahul Gandhi being the only leader who consistently opposed fascist forces and defended the identity of Jammu and Kashmir.

Karra also praised the leadership qualities of JKPCC vice president Shahnawaz Chowdhary, describing him as a gentleman and a true secular individual. He urged the public to support Shahnawaz Chowdhary, expressing confidence that he would represent them effectively in the Assembly.

Commenting on the BJP’s desperation to remain in power, Karra quoted Mustafa Kamal Ataturk, a prominent writer, who warned against using religion to uphold government or gain power, as it weakens the ruler and traps the people.

In essence, Tariq Hameed Karra’s address underscored the critical importance of unity against divisive politics and the Congress’s role in opposing such divisive forces while promoting a more inclusive and secular approach to governance.
