Congress pays rich tributes to Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on his 136th birth anniversary

Jammu, Nov. 14 :-  Rich tributes were paid to the first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on his 136th birth anniversary in an impressive function held here today at JK Resort Marble Market, Jammu.

JK PCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra was the chief guest, while AICC General Secretary and CLP LeaderShri G.A. Mir was the guest of honour in the function, which was attended by large number of senior leaders, former Ministers and legislators, district presidents, and leaders of frontal wings from All over Jammu Province.  Prominent amongst them include  AICC Secretaries Shah Nawaz Choudhary and  Neeraj Kundan,  EX-MP  Ch. Lal Singh, Ex-Minister  Mula Ram, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Former Minister Yogesh Sawhney, Smt. On the occasion the PCC Leadership launched the fourth phase of the  struggle for the  restoration of statehood “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq ”  through         the  slogan “Ghar Ghar Dastak, Har Ghar Dastak” ., by releasing a book let containing the  material to reach out and  educate the masses to join the struggle  for the restoration of the statehood, dignity, identity, honour, status and rights to land,  job and natural resources snatched  by the BJP. The party also issued certificates of appreciation to all those party workers who participated in  the hunger strike

for the  statehood movement. Addressing the gathering JKPCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra described Pt. Nehru as a great stalwart  of freedom struggle and architect of modern India as  the first Prime Minister of this country. He was the great visionary  leader and statesman  of his time  and  leader of the international  stature, who played a great role in the World  and enhanced the image of India as a  messenger of peace and harmony in the community of nations.

Shri Karra recalled his remarkable contributions  in the shaping the destiny   of  future of the country  and establishing  the strong foundations of the democracy and the democratic institutions  in the country, which are under strain at present from the forces in power and asked the party men to take a pledge on his birth anniversary to protect and safeguard the democracy and the  values  laid down by him and  other stalwarts of his time and to defeat the tendencies to demolish  weaken those values.  He also recalled the great role  played by Pt. Nehru in  the accession and integration  of Jammu and Kashmir with India and  condemned  those designs  and efforts to distort history  and facts to belittle  his role to mislead and misguide  the younger generations.

He asked party men to reach out to the people  and work hard to save democracy and aggressively ;launch the campaign against  vote chori started by our bold and dynamic leader Shri Rahul Gandhi. He also asked party workers to  reach out to te masses at the grass root level to intensify the struggle for restoration of full statehood  through Ghar Ghar Dastak, Har Ghar Dastak.

AICC General Secretary and CLP Leader Shri Ghulam Ahmed Mir paid floral tributes to the great leader and recalled his sacrifices in the freedom struggle and remarkable contributions in the  country as the first prime minister in laying down strong foundations for the future. He said that he established strong  foundations of democracy but cautioned  against the  serious threats to the democratic culture and values from  the forces in power .

He said that Congress party and other secular democratic forces have to   intensify their efforts to check the all out attempts to pollute and weaken the democratic system and the electoral system in order to maintain the faith of the  people and the system. He referred to the vote chori campaign launched  by the  LOP Shri Rahul Gandhi, thereby he exposed  the manipulations  and  the irregularity and illegalities   being committed  to highjack the democracy. He also questioned  the cash for vote scheme being launched on the eve of elections  under the nose of the Election Commission.

Working President Shri Raman Bhalla paid ricu tributes  to Pt. Nehru and recalled  his great contributions I the freedom movement and as a first prime minister and said that te generations to come will not forget his role, however the forces in  power are trying to distort history  to mislead the future generations against which the congress party and other right thinking people have to standup.  Several Senior Leaders  former ministers legislators district presidents and other paid floral tributes  to the great leader and  pledged to fight against attempts to distort history and belittle the role of congress party and  the stalwarts  like Pt.  Nehru and  to weaken  the democracy and the values  laid down by forefathers  and stalwarts of the nation.
