Congress Stands as Nation’s Sole Democratic Force,” Says Ramesh Amid Sharma, Nath Row Row

Remarks come after differing views by Anand Sharma and Kamal Nath on West Asia crisis and LPG supply

New Delhi, Apr 3: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Friday asserted that the Congress remains the only democratic political party in India, pointing to recent public statements by party colleagues that diverged from the official stance.

Responding to queries about former MP Anand Sharma praising the Centre’s handling of the West Asia crisis, Ramesh said such differences of opinion highlight the party’s democratic nature. He reiterated the same view when asked about Kamal Nath’s remarks regarding domestic LPG availability.

Nath had stated that while there is no shortage of LPG cylinders in the country, the government’s distribution system remains inadequate, creating unnecessary distress among citizens. His comments come at a time when the Congress has been raising concerns over long queues at fuel stations and gas agencies.

Meanwhile, Sharma described India’s diplomatic response to the West Asia situation as “mature and skilful,” noting that it helped the country navigate potential challenges.

The contrasting statements within the party have sparked debate, even as the BJP-led government continues to deny any shortage of fuel or LPG supplies across the country.
