Constitution Is India’s Pride, Key to Shedding Colonial Mindset: President Murmu

At Constitution Day event, Murmu says the Samvidhan guides India toward nationalistic thinking and a new development model

NEW DELHI, Nov 26: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday said the Constitution stands as the cornerstone of India’s identity, describing it as the guiding framework that enables the nation to discard colonial mindsets and embrace nationalistic thinking.

Speaking at the Constitution Day celebration in the Central Hall of the Old Parliament building, now officially known as Samvidhan Sadan, Murmu said India today is showcasing a new model of development to the world while taking decisive steps to meet the aspirations of its citizens.

“Our Constitution is a document of national pride. It reflects the identity of our nation,” she said. “It is a document to shun the colonial mindset, adopt a nationalistic view and take the country forward.”

The President emphasised that the principles enshrined in the Constitution continue to guide India’s progress and strengthen its democratic values.
