Criminals Arrested After Shootout with Police in Jammu’s Miran Sahib

Jammu, 31-01-2025: On the outskirts of Jammu, two alleged criminals were apprehended following a brief but intense gunfight with police forces on Friday, January 31. According to the police, the incident unfolded when a special team was dispatched to Miran Sahib after receiving intelligence about the movement of two individuals suspected to be armed with a pistol. As the police team attempted to intercept the suspects, they were met with gunfire, leading to an immediate exchange of fire. During the confrontation, one of the criminals was injured in the leg.

The injured suspect, later identified as Paramjit Singh, alias “Jungi,” a resident of Draptey village in R S Pura, was hit and subsequently taken into custody. He was immediately transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital for medical treatment, where he remains under police custody. Singh has a long criminal record, with over half a dozen cases registered against him across various police stations since 2011, according to a police official.

The second individual arrested in connection with the incident has been identified as Arjun Kumar, alias “Billu,” a resident of Akhnoor who is currently residing in the Arnia area. Both men were taken into custody after the gunfight, which marked the successful conclusion of a police operation aimed at neutralizing criminal elements in the region.

The police have registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the law, and investigations into the matter are ongoing. Authorities are working to determine the full extent of the criminals’ activities and whether they are part of any larger criminal network operating in the region.
