Mumbai, July 01 : The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially declared the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 results, paving the way for the undergraduate admission process across India’s central and participating universities. The announcement marks one of the biggest milestones in the country’s higher education calendar, with lakhs of students now preparing for counselling, course selection, and document verification.
The CUET UG has emerged as India’s largest entrance examination for undergraduate admissions since its introduction, bringing students from different educational boards onto a common evaluation platform. The examination is accepted by central universities, state universities, deemed universities, and several private institutions.
Candidates can download their scorecards from the official CUET portal using their application credentials. The result includes subject-wise percentile scores, normalised marks, and overall performance, enabling universities to prepare merit lists according to their admission policies.
Unlike previous years, the NTA will not conduct centralized counselling. Each participating university will release its own admission schedule, eligibility criteria, and counselling procedure. Students have therefore been advised to regularly monitor university websites to avoid missing important deadlines.
The University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Aligarh Muslim University, University of Hyderabad, and several other institutions have already begun preparations for undergraduate admission registration based on CUET scores.
Education experts noted that the examination has significantly streamlined admissions by reducing dependence on Class 12 board examination marks. Universities can now assess applicants through a standardized testing system while maintaining transparency in admissions.
Students from rural and urban backgrounds alike participated in the examination, with authorities reporting smooth conduct across examination centres. Special arrangements were made to facilitate differently-abled candidates and those appearing from remote locations.
Career counsellors have advised candidates to prepare a list of preferred universities and courses based on previous years’ cut-offs while keeping multiple options available during counselling.
Parents and students welcomed the timely declaration of results, saying it would allow sufficient time for admission-related formalities before the commencement of the academic session.
Universities are expected to announce their first merit lists within days, followed by multiple counselling rounds depending on seat availability.
Education officials stated that the admission process is expected to conclude before the beginning of the new academic year, ensuring minimal disruption to teaching schedules.
The CUET UG system continues to evolve, with policymakers indicating that future editions may witness further improvements in examination management, digital evaluation, and student-friendly admission procedures.
