26-10-2023 : Darakshan Andrabi, a prominent BJP leader and Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Wakf Board, has called upon the youth to educate the public about the historical significance of Accession Day. This day, October 26, marks the formal accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India in 1947. Andrabi emphasized the importance of Accession Day and encouraged the youth to actively participate in enlightening the general population about its historical significance.
She recounted the events of October 26, 1947, when Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession. This monumental step was also endorsed by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, officially integrating the state of Jammu and Kashmir into the Indian Union. Andrabi commended Maharaja Hari Singh’s decision to sign the Instrument of Accession as a courageous and visionary move, which fills the people of Jammu and Kashmir with pride at being an integral part of the world’s largest democracy.
She stressed that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to the Union of India was complete and final, following the example set by princely states in other regions of India during the post-independence period. Andrabi, who holds the rank of a Minister of State in the Jammu and Kashmir administration, emphasized the importance of each citizen taking pride in the progress and development achieved in the region since the accession, owing to its status as an integral part of India.
Andrabi called for Accession Day to be celebrated as a festival, with every individual pledging to safeguard the unity and integrity of the state against any forces that may attempt to undermine its connection with the rest of India. She reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to India is irrevocable, reaffirming the state’s status as an integral and indivisible part of the Indian nation.
On Accession Day, the BJP organized a grand celebration at its headquarters in Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar. Various party wings, including Minority Morcha, Yuva Morcha, Kisan Morcha, and ST Morcha, participated in the festivities. The event served as a reminder of the historic significance of the state’s accession to India and the unity it has fostered with the nation.
